Alan Schachtely, Senior Director, Software Engineering

Some eight years back, I was working closely with Lane Desborough when he found out about his son Hayden's T1D diagnosis. I watched as my friend and colleague pivoted to his new life mission of improving the lives of those living with T1D.

When the opportunity came to join Lane and our remarkable group of Bigfoot founders, I jumped at the chance. Over the last 18 years, I have grown up in the software space in roles ranging from developer, architect, and dev-leader to commercial, quality, systems and process. As software director, my greatest joy is realized in building high-performing development teams and putting them into a system that enables them to solve important problems. Over the last year, we have been able to assemble an amazing dev team to build a game-changing Bigfoot solution.

I believe in Bigfoot because we get to help young people like Hayden Desborough reduce the daily burden of living with T1D so they can focus their intellect and energy on pursuing their dreams, realizing their goals, and living up to their true potential. This is how I get to make a dent in the universe.
